Switching on the Purple / Airship connector means that each time a customer connects to your WiFi, the customer and WiFi data will be automatically sent to your Airship database.
How to get started
The Airship connector can be set up at customer or venue level and will push users’ data into Airship once they have authenticated onto your WiFi.
To get started, log in to your Purple portal. At either customer or venue level, in the navigation bar on the right hand side click on “Management” and choose the final option “Connectors” shown right.
In the Connectors section you will see various optional connectors that can be set up, including the Airship connector. On the Airship connector click on the green plus button as shown left:
Now you will be presented with five fields; “Connector name”, “Login”, “Password”, “Name folder where to push users” and “Name group to push users” as shown below.
You can label “Connector Name” to be anything you like. To connect to the Airship API you will need to request the “Login”, “Password” and “Source ID” from Airship Support: email@example.com.
The final 2 fields are to specify where you would like the data to be pushed to in Airship. By default, your main Contacts Folder and Group are labelled ‘Default’ in Airship. To access your Contact Folders in Airship, scroll down to “Contacts” in the main menu and select “Folders and Groups”.
As you can see from the previous screenshot of the setup page - “Name folder where to push users” and “Name group to push users” are pre-filled with “Default”. You can of course update this to match any specific Folder or Group you like in Airship.
In terms of consent, this will default to what the user has specified in Purple.
You can choose to switch the connector on for all your venues, or just specific venues from the ‘Scope’ section:
Click the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the page to save the settings and switch the connector on. After all of the above steps have been completed the Airship Connector will now be active and authenticated users will be pushed to your list in Airship.
Once the connector is on, you will be able to see data flowing into your Airship account by checking the groups in Airship under the “Folders & Groups” interface.
